Use The Schwartz
February 08, 2010
For years now, I have had a somewhat unhealthy obsession with A Christmas Story. I can watch it any time of year at any time of day and still find it riveting and hilarious. I find myself quoting it at completely inappropriate moments. I have seriously gotten looks from my family that make me wonder how I ever aligned myself with them. How anyone can NOT like this classic, I have no idea.
That being said, I decided to make this hat for Monkey:

I’ve been working on this hat for the past few weeks and the end is in sight. I’m not entirely sure, at this point, how much use the child will get out of it since toddler heads are huge and tend to grow at a frightening rate - but it will look cute for the five minutes (and five hundred pictures) that he wears it.
So here is my progress thus far:

I’ve never knit a hat in the round - seeing as I’m a self-taught knitter so when I found a pattern for the hat here, it was as if Schwartz himself were saying “I TRIPLE dog dare you.”
And I’m never one to pass up a dare.
